I took a break when I got to the intake mani install to post up some pics. I have a new-found respect for the guys who do this for a living. The install so far has been a challenge for me.

At one point last night I was thinking about quitting. The exhaust manifold wouldn't go on because Edelbrock sends it with the turbo and part of the downpipe attached, and it was kicking my butt. I couldn't figure out how to push it up past all the AC components. Finally, after 1 - 2 hours of getting no where, I took another look at the directions and noticed they drop it in from the top, not the bottom... I sure felt like a genious.

Anyway, here's the pics:

After disassembly, first part of the install -

Now for the question - I need help Identifying these sensors and hoses on the intake mani. I have a Haynes manual and the intake pictures suck but my Helms isn't here yet. The two circled and the 3 hoses with arrows, can you guys ID them?

Thanks again guys~

Red circle is the TPS. Yellow circle is something dealing with the charcoal canister. I dont what its called, but the wire that hooks to it is in the same wire loom as the injector clips. You cant screw it up and put it on the wrong thing. The hose that runs into if you trace it back to the firewall goes to the charcoal canister and the other side runs into you I/M which your purple arrow is pointing at. The red arrow is just the vacuum port for the FPR. And the green arrow is the vacuum port for the PCV. If you were to trace it it would go to a little black box that has the PCV in it.

Yeah that Home-Made wood stand is tight as fuck. That's what my car is going to be resting on when I do my project. :P

lol, I'm pretty particular about anything that stands between me and death, so I made them sturdy:

I wouldn't recommend anyone without good structural sense to do the same though. As another precaution I always shake the car around after its on the stands before I get under it.

Now, a few more pics and another question :?

Oil Pan Hole Drilled:

Edelbrock Intake Mani almost ready to go back in:
Image

Now the question, the stock injectors looked pretty dirty when I pulled them out with the rail:
Image

The car was running strong, but is this normal for 95k?

Thanks again guys

Yes its normal for injectors to look like that. I'd get some carb spray and clean them up before you stick them back in though. Also make sure all of the o-rings on the injectors are lubed up with wd-40 or motor oil so they don't tear.

I would never usually go against what this man has to say, but I have found out on many occasions that carb cleaner and any plastic or rubber pieces don't mix. It tends to melt other petroleum products (plastic etc). I think the tips on the stockers are some sort of plastic. Just an FYI.

just whipe it off by hand. its not like that stuff is fused to the injector.

Yeah, I wasn't too worried about getting the crap off, just apprehensive at the fact that the injectors came out so dirty. I'm using a dry Q-Tip to wipe it off.

Carb cleaner won't harm the injectors, fuel is going through them all the time and that's basically what carb cleaner is. Either way, just make sure the o-rings are in good condition and well lubed

Carb cleaner has acetone and acids in it. Try it out sometime. I left a toothbrush in carb cleaner once and in the morning it was almost totally gone

 Well I never said to let the injectors bathe in a pool of it overnight :P That's good to know though :D

Use a rubber lube to lube. Carb cleaner will eat the seals over time.

Here are some of the joys I've been experiencing over the past day or so:

For starters, the Throttle Cable bracket wasn't flat on the two stand-offs because the edge was hitting the top of the mani, so I had to file it down:
Image

Next, the Compressor Outlet Pipe was touching the lower right AC condenser bracket so I had to Dremel and file it down:
Image

After that I had to modify the driver's side fan brace (AC condenser) so the oil feed line wouldn't be resting on a sharp edge. If the Oil Feed line had been a foot longer I would have had enough room to run it all the way under the condenser fan. I made do:
Image

I started running the pipes for the IC:
Image

Then I noticed that the "U" pipe bracket lines up perfectly...not
Image

Image

So far it seems like the variances in my particular car's dimensions were outside of what Edelbrock had anticipated so the little modifications are taking up a lot of my time. I had to buy more line to run the coolant hose from the IAC to the throttle body too because on the Performer X they are at a different angle than on the stock.

Anyone have a suggestion on how I'm going to get that damn bracket on the IC to line up right??

Thanks guys, oh and I almost forgot Happy 4th of July.
